Manila, Philippines – the Senate has indefinitely held the resigned Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon on Monday.

According to Senator Richard Gordon, Faeldon will be held at the Senate until he decides to answer the allegations against him during the hearing on the P6.4 million worth of shabu shipment seized from China that passed through Customs scrutiny.

Also on Monday, Faeldon turned himself in to the Senate but ignored the invitation from the Blue Ribbon committee for him to attend the probe.

Report from Inquirer said that Faeldon directly went to the Office of the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA), it was an hour later when Gordon met him.

When asked if Faeldon is considered arrested, Gordon said: “No, he did not defy the Senate.”

Gordon also explained that the former Marin captain would rather be detained that attend the hearing in the Senate with Senator Panfilo Lacson and Antonio Trillanes IV there.

“‘Yung atake sa kanya ni Trillanes, sa kanya napaka-unfair na nahusgahan na siya. ‘Yung mga lahat ng bumoto kay Lacson at Trillanes, wala daw siyang kalaban-laban doon kaya para manalo siya, sa husgado na lang niya ifa-file,” Gordon said as Faeldon has also took offense at Trillanes’s statement previously, that the former BOC commissioner was “at the heart “of the BOC controversy.
