149th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal in Knokke, Belgium

By Lucien Spittael

In commemoration of the 149th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal the Belgian Chapters of the Knights, of Rizal under the capable lead of Sir Dominiek Segaert, had organized the musical “Calamba Joe” in the cultural center Scharpoord, Knokke-Heist.

The Pasundayag Sugbo Theater CC. from Cebu, Philippines performed the musical “Calamba Joe”, written and directed by Claudio “Al” Evangelio. This musical was awarded as Prize Winning Play by the Philippine Centennial Commission.

The length of presentation was approximately 1 hour and forty minutes of fast-paced re-enactment by 15 actors playing sixty four characters with changing voices and disguises.
It was an impressive theatre show very much appreciated by the audience.
