Jesus Christ and Jose Rizal parallels

Both lived in a society that engenders oppression, injustice, and inequality. Jesus was in Palestine under the Roman Empire's heavy taxation, devastation of towns, and slavery. He saw Jewish leaders collaborating with Roman authorities at the expense of the Jewish peasantry. Jose Rizal was in the Philippines under the Spanish forced labor, social classes, and oppression. He saw Filipino leaders collaborating with Spanish authorities to secure their properties at the expense of the Filipino peasantry.

Both spoke openly against these injustices and inequalities in their time. Jesus spoke through parables that stirred the guilty conscience of the Sanhedrin, Scribes, and Jewish elders. Rizal spoke through his novels that irritated the Spanish authorities.

Both were, themselves, victims of the very injustice they spoke against. Jesus was actually never tried in a public court or a Roman court. He was never given the chance to defend himself. Jose Rizal was tried by an unjust Spanish court and was never allowed to defend himself rightfully.

Both were sentenced to death because of their love for justice and equality.

Both were given commemorative monuments to be revered and honored. The sad thing is their once-alive wisdom is nothing more but a stiff stone that can't continue their mission..

Both had wisdom people now take for granted...

Both spoke to societies that did not really have substantial change years after their deaths.
